Kuwait, 4th May– In recognition of World Asthma Day (WAD), Mundipharma announced its partnership with Al Rashed Allergy Center to raise public awareness of asthma in Kuwait and to take action.
With a shared vision and commitment to Kuwait, Mundipharma has partnered with Al Rashed Allergy Center, lending the company’s scientific knowledge and expertise on asthma. Together, the Allergy Center and Mundipharma will work to raise awareness of chronic respiratory diseases among health professionals, ultimately improving the lives of people living with asthma in Kuwait.
Dr. Mona Sulaiman Al-Ahmad, Head of Allergy department Rashed Allergy Centercommented, “The prevalence of asthma in Kuwait was reported at approximately 17% of the total population, highlighting the need for symptom control to reduce the burden of asthma in patient’s daily lives. Despite all the progress in the availability of effective asthma medicines in Kuwait, many people with asthma are still not achieving control. Our partnership with Mundipharma signifies our commitment to increase awareness of the importance of appropriate management through both patients, and physicians’ awareness in addition to studies to be initiated utilizing Kuwait asthma data for better disease understanding.”
“The educational initiative will run through the month of May and will help us increase people’s awareness of the burden of Asthma in Kuwait and how it can be controlled,” concluded Dr. Ashraf Allam, Regional Vice President of Mundipharma Middle East and Africa region.
To commemorate World Asthma Day, Mundipharma and the Allergy Center will host a series of initiatives that will kick off on May 4th. Al Rashed Allergy Center will provide patients with pamphlets to help them understand asthma, and educate them on how to reduce the likelihood of an attack. Community health workers and doctors will also be on site to provide tips to people on how they can take action to control their asthma. Mundipharma will sponsor public awareness activities at the center, and at Marina mall to educate on environmental asthma triggers and management. Patients and visitors of Al Rashed Allergy Center can also view augmented reality 3D videos explaining asthma for the first time in Kuwait.
